  1. File/Folder Settings
  2.  
  3.     Various settings related to the file/folder information can be changed through
  4. this dialog.  The items which may be changed vary depending upon whether the item
  5. is a file or folder, what system is running, and whether folder locking is supported
  6. by the volume where the folder is located.  The items which may be changed are
  7. automatically enabled depending upon the status of these items.
  8.  
  9. Generally speaking, the following rules apply:

  11. 1) The dates and times may be changed under any circumstances.
  12. 2) The Creator and Type only apply to files and must be exactly 4 characters
  13.     long.
  14. 3) The Finder Flags are adjusted so that only those flags which will effect a change
  15.     are enabled.  Disabled flags either are immaterial to the current status of your
  16.     system or are for informational or system use only.  The use of these flags have
  17.     changed over time as you can see from the differing meanings under system 6 
  18.     and system 7.  The meanings of the flags under the differing conditions can be
  19.     obtained from the Definitions in the main listing.
  20. 4) The File/Folder Locked checkbox above the Definitions button operates through 
  21.     the file system and is the most consistent and reliable across various systems.
  22.     The File Locked checkbox corresponds to the one in the Get Info dialog available
  23.     from the Finder menu, and the Folder Locked checkbox corresponds to the 
  24.     ‚ÄúCan‚Äôt be moved, renamed, or deleted‚Äù checkbox in the File Sharing dialog
  25.     also available from the Finder menu.
